The magazine of the Ministry of Defence “Shtit” (Shield)

Address of Minister Konjanovski at the promotion ceremony

During these days when the Army of the Republic of Macedonia is celebrating its seventeenth anniversary, it is my pleasure as a Minister of Defence, to announce the new contemporary magazine of the Ministry of Defence.

Over the past period, we have worked hard together with the Editorial Board, the newsroom, and experts in this area on the new look and content of the new magazine and the result is the first issue of the magazine Shtit (Shield) that we have in front of us today.

The magazine conceptually differs from the previous magazines “Armiski Zbor” and “Odbrana”, which have accomplished their mission in a dignified and complete way with their 162, that is, 153 issues. These two magazines constitute a lasting landmark in Macedonian military journalism and have retired with due merit.

The main task of the magazine Shtit is to promote and present the professional values of our army, the meaning of our armed forces, the codes of the military duty, as well as to inform about the most important development in contemporary Macedonian and world defence.

The objectives of the magazine are as follows:

- to continue the established tradition,

- to rationalize the available resources,

- to adjust better to the spirit of the future

- to become more accessible to the readers as it will be distributed to all cities.

The Shtit magazine will be an important segment of a broader and consistent integrated communication with the purpose of upgrading the dignity of the soldier’s occupation for whose status we must all take care.

Although the concept has been changed, the magazine Shtit will continue to inform the public on the achieved level of the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia, the army daily life, the life and work of the ARM units and the attained level of transformation of the ARM according to NATO standards. At the same time, Shtit will offer, inter alia, contents that will be available and equally interesting to both the older and younger population, or in other words, Shtit will function as a chronics and registry of events.

I sincerely hope that Shtit will fulfill the envisaged goals, although the comments of the readers and experts in this area will have the greatest importance to us.
