Today (31 January 2010) at the skis-slopes in Krushevo, on the track at Kiprovo, the 7th ARM Biathlon Cup was held. Apart from ARM teams, teams from the Ski Federation in Macedonia and the Ski Club “Musica” from Krushevo also participated in the Cup.

The winner of this year’s ARM Biathlon Cup is professional soldier Gjorgji Icoski from the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the ARM, with a time of 26.54, second place was won by professional soldier Darko Damjanovski from the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade with a time of 28.20, and third place was won by Dejan Stojanoski from the Ski Club “Musica” with a time of 31.04. Otherwise, yesterday 7.5 km cross-country skiing was on the program in team competition, where the first place was won by the team from the Ski Club “Musica” from Krushevo, second place was won by the Ski Federation of Macedonia, third place was won by the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, and fourth place was won by the team from the Special Operations Regiment of the ARM. As was expected during this competition, both best-placed on this year’s ARM Biathlon confirmed their Olympic norms.

Today’s competition at the Kiprovo track was attended by the mayor of the municipality of Krushevo, Mr. Vasilcho Damchevski, the Commander of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Colonel Metodija Velichkovski, sport personnel from the Ski Federation of Macedonia and other guests.

This sport manifestation that the ARM is organizing has grown into a tradition and apart from cultivating the sport spirit among the young, it has the goal of affirming Biathlon as a sport discipline in Nordic skiing, but also as a military discipline that is also accepted in the ARM, which has an exceptionally important role in the strengthening of the combat readiness.
