In the first phase of the project “ARM My True Home” there is an interest for the building of 4,300 apartments with a total area of 252,670m², shows the survey among members of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia. During today’s announcement of the results from the first phase of the project, the Minister of Defence Zoran Konjanovski noted that the Government enables the ARM members to have their own home under exclusively favourable conditions with a low price, opportunity for payment in the next 10 years and only 30% down payment without obligations for interest. - With the project “ARM My True Home”, costs are decreased in the Ministry of Defence for paying rent and transport, and ARM and MOD members will benefit, said Konjanovski during the press-conference of the Government. According to him, the project will be carried out without additional fiscal implications on the budget of the MOD and the Government, and the construction companies, banks and local self-government will benefit. Konjanovski informed that the apartments will begin to be built in October or November the latest, and are with different size from about 35, 55 and 70 square meters, and with the survey the Army members responded what size apartment they want to buy. Questioned about the price, the Minister expressed expectations that they will be much cheaper than the commercial ones. - Having in mind that they will be built on the territories of the former barracks, in certain municipalities on state-owned land, and with the participation in the project by the mayors, they will be relieved of utility charges for construction, we expect the price to be much lower than the commercial apartments, said Konjanovski. The initial interest, according to him, represents evidence on the justification of the project and motive for a more engaged approach towards it. After the adoption of the Law on Service in the ARM, he announced that preparations will begin on a Rulebook for acquiring an apartment and a programme on the basis of which the project documentation will be prepared. In the first phase in cooperation with the local self-governments, locations have been determined and a survey has been conducted with all ARM members. In the municipality of Tetovo construction will take place in the former barracks, and the initial interest is for the building of 146 apartments with a total apartment area of 8,905 square meters.
