Today, (05 February 2010) the Chief of GS of the ARM Lieutenant General Miroslav Stojanovski met 2 professional soldiers Darko Damjanovski and Gjorgji Icoski from the composition of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade (2MIB) of the ARM, who gained the Olympic norms in Cross-Country Skiing. As it is known, in Vancouver, Canada, during the forthcoming Winter Olympic Games, on Monday only Damjanovski will travel, while Icoski accomplished the required time for an Olympic norm, which confirmed his top form. Apart from the Olympians from the 2MIB, the meeting with the Chief of GS of the ARM was also attended by the Commander of the Joint Operations Command of the ARM, Major General Zoran Dimov, the Commander of the 2MIB, Colonel Metodija Velichkovski and the coach of the Macedonian National Cross-Country Ski Team, Gjoko Dineski. General Stojanovski wished to Damjanovski all the best and success in Vancouver and noted that the participation of an ARM member in the Olympic Games, represents for the Army a historical event and this for the ARM members will be a strong motive to achieve top results in sport in the framework of the ARM. He noted that Damjanovski in Canada will not just represent the Republic of Macedonia, but also as a member of the ARM, he will share the Olympic spirit with the sportsmen from the whole world. In the meantime, during the morning at the Kichevo garrison, in honour of the Olympians, a ceremony was held for the sending of Damjanovski, where in front of the muster of the units, who are accommodated in this garrison, and the military flags of the 2MIB, the Commander of the Brigade, Colonel Metodija Velichkovski, on behalf of the members of the unit, wished all the best and favourable results to Damjanovski during the Olympics in Vancouver. Apart from the ceremony in the Kichevo Barracks, the ARM Olympians were also received by the mayor of the municipality of Kichevo, Mr. Blagoja Despotoski. |
