Today, during the second day of the visit of the ARM, the Commander of the Vermont National Guard, Major General Michael Dubie visited the ARM members that are in the composition of the contingent foreseen for joint deployment with the Vermont National Guard in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. During the stay of the Vermont delegation in the “Ilinden” barracks in Skopje, the host was the Commander of the Joint Operations Command of the ARM, Major General Zoran Dimov. In front of the guests from Vermont, the members from the Ranger Battalion and the Military Police Battalion carried out a demonstration exercise with content from the training that they carried out in the framework of the preparations prior to deployment in mission. General Dubie did not hide his delight of the level of preparedness that the ARM members demonstrated on the exercise, and in view of the long-term partnership, he presented plaques of Vermont National Guard to the commanders of both units. After the exercise, in the military restaurant in the “Ilinden” barracks, Generals Dubie and Dimov had lunch together with the soldiers from both battalions, which was also attended by the US Ambassador in the Republic of Macedonia, H.E. Philip Reeker. Otherwise, yesterday in the framework of the visit, after the talks in the MOD and GS of the ARM, General Dubie was received by the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Gjorgje Ivanov, and he also met the Director of the Crises Management Centre, Mr. Pande Lazarovski. |
